Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

I'll work on the mathematical sig...

The Curl-J part is plain enough; I'll have to work on the rest.

...in the meantime: yeah, I agree, even on the basis of my limited experience, that blind testing can still be useful. When I hear something, or THINK I hear something, the first thing I ask myself is, would I be able to detect that blind? What I wrote was about DBT, not simple blind testing.

As for that apology, the problem is that, though in retrospect I regret the harm (if any, and I'm not sure about that) that it caused you, but I feel as if I followed the rules and did my job correctly. I DON' think the quote was out of context, any more than any quote in any story EVER is (you HAVE to remove it from its original context, ALWAYS. I mean you can't include the whole damn interview. And if what I presented to Stereophile's readers doesn't succeed in capturing your actual views, then neither did your original statement, in context, IMO. But I really don't want to reopen that debate again.

I did an honest job, but I regret any harm to your reputation, if any.

See the problem is that an apology is an admission that you did something wrong, and I don't think I did. Will you accept my expression of regret?

Cheers,
Jim
