Re: John, that's the problem

SY, I know that you mean well, but I doubt that I could convince you, myself, of what I know about audio differences.
We had an extensive debate and exchange about this in 'The Audio Amateur' in the years of 1979-1982. This included Lipshitz, Moncrief, Jung, me, Drs. Rees and Shaffer, as well as many others.
Extensive tests were done and reported, to no avail. If Lipshitz didn't have general control of the test procedure, it was discarded by his camp. Yet his group couldn't hear the 'broad side of a barn' in virtually all their listening tests, and they made incredible errors in attempting to provoke any differences. For example, is a Shure moving magnet cartridge that is overdamped by knowingly misloading it, the best way to find the effect of TIM on the following preamp or power amp? Lipshitz thinks so, and he ignored my confrontation to him on this issue. And so it goes. You and many here, have little or no idea of what has been done and said already, over 25 years ago. Nothing new is being presented here.
