My experience correlates well with what you say. It's all too easy to obtain false negatives with inadequately applied double blind testing, and I've always suspected DBT is too difficult to do sufficiently well to detect audio subtleties for most self-proclaimed DBTesters to accomplish, where DBT might possibly be applicable.
