So having that analysis alone nobody would ever think of quantum dots, would he?


If laser light had wave photons only the famous "double-slot" experiment would not work: You get an interference pattern indicating that the photons pass through both slots as wave, but when using particle detectors the photons (as particle) pass only through one of the slots. Strange, isn't it? Whenever you have an interaction of a photon with sth else (cutting material, kicking electrons out of their orbit) you need the particle, not the wave.
