Re: Question for Atma-sphere owners

Please see my post in response to Acres Verde below so that we are on the same wavelength. I must have really goofed in the way I worded my inquiry, because I was misunderstood by two respondents at least. So, the issue is about driving the amp in balanced mode via its low impedance vs its high impedance inputs. On the MA1, my discontinued MA240, and the MA2, there is a switch in the vicinity of the balanced XLR input jack that is labeled "high impedance" on one side and "low impedance" on the other side. The factory advises one to use the low Z input when driving the amp with an MP1 or MP3. The impedance is nominally 600 ohms at that setting, though Ralph has advised users of the MP3 to go with a 1200 ohm resistive load instead, and I believe amps can be modified at the factory for that purpose. In the high Z setting, the input R = 200K ohms, suitable for any conventional balanced preamplifier. I was asking whether users of the MP1/MP3 had experimented with driving their amps via the high Z inputs and about the results therefrom. So, I don't know whether or not the M60 has a switch for this purpose. Hell, I'm just going to give it a try myself, and I will let you cats know the results.
