Andy,Wrong. First of all, you can hear polarity reversal on YOUR speakers, we are NOT talking phase coherency, but a 180 degree polarity reversal. TRY it !!
As for LPs, YES, position relative to the platter is VERY audible. TRY it !! Put a magic marker index line on your platter and rotate a record in 90 degree quadrants and LISTEN to the spectral balance change. This will get you pointed in the correct direction. Take it from there
