I found your comments a little perplexing. It seems as if all the traits you're saying silver doesn't have are the exact traits proponents of silver buy those cables for! In the wrong system silver can "sound" bright or hard, but I happen to believe it's simply the silver revealing the "sound" of the components it's attached to.

As for me I presently use a Gold/Silver/Copper alloy IC that has the salient points of those individual metals, without their apparent weaknesses. The IC are called Z-Squared Au/Au, for speakerwire I use a silverplated copper the Nordost Blue Heavens. I really like these speakerwires for the $$$$$$. However as my audio components got better & better, I now hear an occasional harshness I never heard before. Perhaps that's the splashiness that HP refered to? If I switch to all copper speakerwire the occasional harshness goes away, but so does a lot of detail, transparency and slam. In any event as soon as I can afford to I'll be DIYing speakerwire from the alloy wire used in my interconnects.
