I listen mostly to classics and there were numerous reissues on CD which sounded fabulous quite early on such labels as London and Philips, and many fine new recordings on such labels as London, Philips, Denon, DG, Telarc, Nimbus, and so on. So, I simply have not found that early digital recordings were mostly bad, whether reissues of analog masters (and I have lots of them) or DDD.
I have heard a few bad CDs, even of classical material, but I try to do some research before purchasing and so have had good luck. I don't listen that much to rock and pop butit has long been known that the wrong masters were used for many of the early CDs.
