HF boost being a vinyl issue, they should remove the HF boost for that very reason, so I think they do.

There may be other parameters "responsible" for "bad digital sound". These should be identified, put into relation to perceptional knowledge, and, if necessary, treated. If I recall correctly (if I don't, let me know), John Elison has reported that, to him, CD copies of LP's are substantially indistinguishable from the original. If a digital copy of a LP is as good as the LP itself, then the format itself can't be bad.

Ditching first generation digital when obvious mistakes have been made was both premature and immature.
