Re: Why early digital sounded so bad

I don't know... I think the biggest improvements in CD were on the *playback* side of things, between 1985 and 1990. (I think the improvements continued gradually, until 2000, and have since been "running in place.") For I do have several discs from the mid-1980's that today sound quite good. The Cleveland Orchestra/Dohnanyi Dvorak "Symphonic Dances" and Flim and the BBs "Tricycle" amongst them.
