you hint at what I am getting at when you say mfg is covered if market dries up (unlikely).in Andy's case, as he put it, it was a "leap of faith" and a wad of cash.
the few wealthy people I know would balk (with extreme amusement and disdain) at letting someone else bank their $3K for something as trivial as a tone arm not-yet-delivered but then again, they're not audiophiles, they're millionaire next door types. :-)
Personally, I would never be interested in anything more than the Model 2 (few custom options here) and likely only out of curiousity for it's torsion bearing.
