My personal belief is that it offends people when a manufacturer spends lots of money to market a mediocre product as being the ultimate. Sure, lots of manufacturers do this, but the company you asked about has been particularly successful. This makes them the target. What if Jack in the Box marketed their hamburgers as if to imply them being the best, and best nutritionally balanced, restaurant meals available at any price? What if they marketed them agressively...then charged $10, as if this was a bargain. What if they were successful with this ploy? People who for a hobby or profession were in the nutrition or restaurant business would find this very annoying.
