I remember reading some philosophical discourse on the origin of music, where the author tried to prove that music emulates emotional speach. Sounds convincing in general, but much less so when applied to concrete pieces of music.I believe the opposite. Music is an attempt to break away from limitations of speach, to express what cannot be said.
I can cite Neitzsche: "We have the art to save ourselves from the truth".
