MOSFET mist

Yes, indeed. Or that so-called "MOSFET mist". I am reasonably confident that it is not due to simple harmonic distortion series; it is due to phase intermodulation distortion (like “FM”, and similar to jitter) that is caused by voltage-variable capacitances. I’m convinced the ear/brain is extremely sensitive to this phenomenon. Bipolars and JFETs have it too, but MOSFETs are often the extreme examples. There has been a lot of discussion about this on other forums, where I have been happily stirring the pot. So - long live tubes!
