between the phono preamp and the rest of your system. CF require a lot of help from CCSs and they have to be carefully designed but can be good. Some people want a coffee table with their turntable on it and a long cable betweeen the phono preamp and the rest of the system. I put my phono preamps in the base of my turntable and use an output transformer The phono preamps only see about 12 inches of wire to the cartridge. Once you get the signal up in level you can then work with it without much sacrifice. Ray
