I wouldn't go as far to say my Teac x 10 r is better but it sure gives me great results!
This is a 4 track machine but will record in either direction so you don't have to flip the spools at the end. The sound quality from this machine is extraordinary, even though it is half the speed of my Tandberg TD20 A and half the track width there is less drop out and the sound definately sounds richer and more clear! The end result is a definate pleasing one, much better than I expected. I have posted my results a few days ago about my Teac as I had to re-new the heads. I also sent off for brand new pinch wheels and capstan belts at a very reasonable cost from kawashimo audio directly from japan.
So yes there is definately a saurce for spare parts for these decks and very worthwhile too. Not sure if it would par up to Revox specifications testing with ossiloscopes etc but for the user to listen to a definate hard one to beat. Mind you I have also learned from here that you can obtain All revox spares easily allbeit on the expencive side but not a shortage but for sound quality and overhaul performance I would go for the Teac. If I were pushed I would go for the Tascam 34B then you could choose if you want to flip the reels over or which tracks you want to record on a much more flexible machine but of course it is a more expencive deck and bits and bobs for it will be slightly dearer too. I was after a 4 track revox but I'm more than happy with the results my X 10 gives me so I'll stick with what I have got for now.
