smallpond,I hesitate to describe my record player as SOTA, but my B77 didn't come close to standing comparison with the original LP's that I recorded from my record player - and that was at 15ips - this being one of the reasons for my post.
..And at the risk of being contentious, when put head to head against my Revox 215S and Nak CR7E cassette decks - it was IMHO, overall outclassed by both those cassette decks. I found this a totally unexpected result (considering its enviable reputation) and have since carted my freshly serviced B77 to a second Revox specialist for re-assessment and re-alignment. His inital comments on my B77 was that it was indeed in very clean condition and that the heads showed minimal wear which he estimated to well under one 1/3 worn. He re-assured me that I would be more than pleased after he had finished with it - we shall see.
