Charles:Good questions.
First, anything I say is just my opinion. Hopefully, I'm not presumptious enough to be trying to lay down any "rules".
Secondly, in my opinion, sighted auditions are certainly important from a scientific viewpoint as a way of developing hypotheses to test. Where I would object as to this board specifically is where the results of such auditions are promoted as reliable or verified from a scientific viewpoint. They are the beginning of the search for truth, not the end.
Again, I want to stress that in assembling my own system I have relied solely on sighted tests and will continue to do so, without feeling the need to aplogize to anyone. It works for me. But my soundroom is an entertainment room, not a lab.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clear up some potential confusion. Hopefull I have succeeded in doing so to some extent.
