In 1974 I attended my first ISSCC conference in Philly, PA. They had a panel on op amps and Widlar was on the panel. I got up, knee's quaking, and asked about TIM and IC op amps for audio. Bob Widlar then said: " To build my own op amps, because the IC's at the time were NOT designed for audio" Walt Jung was in the audience, and he met with me afterward, to talk audio, and we first became friends at that point. I found Bob Widlar's response very reasonable for a designer of his reputation. Williams is very sharp and I have his book. Great reading. Erdi is good too, but I have never talked to him.
I too, have to bridge between the 'objective' and the 'subjective'. That is why I spend so much time and personal money to make measurements. I hope to unify the subjective with the objective, if possible.
