Every once in a blue moon I go up to the Foothill College antique radio and ham swap to look for NOS tubes. I ran into a familiar figure there who goes by the name of "Johnny". A very jocular and knowledgeable audiophile. As usual he was selling some interesting gear. Everything from a Columbia SPL meter to a Levinson preamp. We got to talking audio and up walks this elderly gentleman with a long flowing white beard. He starts interjecting comments into our conversation immediately. I could tell he was well-versed in audio and its controversies. His quips were brief, deadly, and frequent. I decided not to argue with him, as it was just too difficult to get a word in edgewise. Anyways, after about 5 or 10 minutes of this Johnny asks, "Hey Scott, you know Bob Pease, right?" "Bob, Scott makes tube amps." "Really?", says Bob. And that was the end of that conversation.
