Do you think Larvardin's approach is new and unique or is it likely there's other amplifiers out there with a similar input stage?Well the basic approach (reducing thermal distortion) is hardly unique except perhaps in the context of it being used in a consumer audio product. I can't say I'm aware of any other companies taking such an approach. That's not to say that there are none. But apparently no one to speak of seems to think it's enough of a problem to make much of a fuss over. They've got different marketing hooks they're trying to promote.
Now, precision opamps are often designed to reduce such distortion so a component using such a precision opamp in their design would in essense be dealing with the problem even if not knowingly on the part of the manufacturer.
Patent aside I'd think there's probably other amps designed with a similar arrangement, if not specifically for reducing 'memory distortion'
Perhaps. Though I don't know what other purpose such an arrangement would serve other than to address thermal distortion. So unless one were specifically addressing thermal distortion, I don't see why they'd come to such an arrangement otherwise.
