That's part of the equation

A perfect cable would not attenuate at ANY frequencies and certainly not selectively in the bandwidth of interest for the signal it is intended to connect.

Another is critical timing and phase response. I can dig up numerous posts by JNeutron that shoot down your "my $1 cable is perfect for audio" soapbox. The same is true of CD players. That's what jitter is all about. The timing of those digits marching through the system.
