Audio Consulting silver transformers provide 1:2 step-up in gain and can be used to add balanced outputs to the 777ES. Others have tried cheaper Jensen and Dave Slagle transformers. I installed a passive LPF filter at the secondaries (95Khz 18db/oct). I found that bass & dynamics with the transformers attached directly to the S-TACT were a little slow relative to attaching them after the second I/V op amp stage. This was remedied entirely by adding stacked Burr Brown BUF634 chip-buffers at the output. Getting the buffers to sound silky smooth requires some tweaking, and preferably a fast +/-12V battery source.
