I stand corrected - it is marked as a DAC by SONY even though...

...it's output is a ragged looking 0 to ~5V peak to peak complex waveform, with a fundamental frequecy of circa 350kHz. Not at all analog looking on a wideband 'scope, on both SACD and RBCD signal sources.

The actual DAC work is done by a following low pass filter - whether built around the active filter using opamps in the original SONY circuit, which are NOT running in slew rate limited mode, or by one of us 'modders' politically incorrect opamp free low pass filters...
