Re: gutting amps...

Hey-Hey!!!,
Well Jim, the dropped amp, aka the Katrina amp went for $242 IIRC. What does Doc charge for a pair? the answer would be an excellent way of measuring instead of speculating. I am fairly certain that the new ones from Heyboer's NC winder/stacker will be less than $150 each in qty of two. All that remains is to feed the gentlemen in Grand Haven a good sample to unwind. I also need a second pair of taps, to run E-Linear drivers to for the 813's. Stock 40% to the g2, and ~25% to the E-Linear drivers. Can't get that from *ANY* of the OEM Iron...:(

That good cores are getting quite expensive ought to be motivation to release new production OPTx's. That is one fine output, and I do agree with you that cutting up the amps is something which should be avoided. One answer is to create a less expensive alternative...as it is in the end mostly an ease of acquisition coupled with something like parity on cost with new ones. Besides, a lower cost supply of outputs will make resurrecting amps more accessable, no?
cheers,
Douglas
