particularly near 0V where most tubes begin to conduct even before the grid goes positive. That's why grid leak bias works. And then of course there is always the small AC current due to input capacitance. Granted this will be miniscule at low frequencies but depending on the tube being used it can be appreciable at high(ish) audio frequencies.My motto is simpler is always better so the best is no grid stopper if possible and next best a simple low value resistor if required. I'd expect the small choke idea to work but I seriously doubt that it would yield any sonic improvements. Like everything though it never hurts to try. Let us know what you find.
