Re: Buy a Nak or not?

There is a local store which told me they do service Nak decks (they service vintage electronics) though I'm not sure how much they charge because they inflate prices on everything. $330 for a Pioneer CLD-3030 LaserDisc player (should be priced around $40 if that) and nearly $600 for an Audio Technica OC9MLII cartridge (most places ask $300). I checked for Nak decks there but they only had a model "1000" (very large unit!) for which they wanted $200.

I was watching the Dragon as mentioned by someone else in one of these replies, but now it is nearing the $1000 mark. I've noticed that both the Dragon and the CR-7 fetch a pretty penny. Would a unit that is a step below them like the RX-505 that I mentioned be relatively close in quality of playback? Also, with that model, does it have the idler wheel problems that require the gear upgrade like the later models? Thanks.
