I currently use a Yamaha KX650 with Dolby b/c and HXPRO. I had a Nak RX-505 which was a GREAT machine in many ways but to be honest, I prefer the Yammy. The Yammy is loaded with features similar to the Nak except for the auto reverse tape flip thing, which to me is just something else mechanical to wear out anyway.I don't mind turning the tape over! The Yammy is a 3 head 3 motor. The Nak is a 3 head 4 motor. Both made EXCELLENT tapes but what I really like about the Yamaha over the Nak was playback. The Yamaha has a play trim pot which can gradually increase or decrease the high end of any tape. Thgis is very useful if you don't have or use tone controls. This is nice when playing back tapes made on different machines. You might want to look into some of the higher end Yamahas with this feature as well as HXPRO. I still have to say the 505 was a great deck!
