Hi,That's really cool to have a nice library of reels... I like how they have such a long playing time too, relative to other formats. It's a shame that my local supplier has recently discontinued selling all forms of tape in favour of digital equipment, as around the year 2000 I was buying a couple reels of Quantegy 641 a month for the purpose you mentioned. If it had been cheaper, and I would have kept the deck set up after moving, I bet I'd still be using it.
My main interest in cassettes started only a few months ago when I discovered I could take my LP's to work via a sony walkman. I know it's not the last word in hi-fi, but it sure makes my job more enjoyable. Whenever I hear people in nearby cubicles on the phone, or talking in loud voices about sports or whatever, I turn up the music and I can concentrate on my work much better.
I know I could go the digital route, but honestly I prefer the "hands on" qualities of analogue.... setting bias, trying different brands of tape, etc. One quality I like a lot about anything analogue, is it's always possible to make it better, some way, some how, where digital is sort of fixed. It's also nice to do something which dosen't involve a computer for a change.
