...but what I am hearing here is alot of sound bites. For example you said: "Is it the tinned copper braids? Could be, bare copper tends to sound better, and multiple braids that are in contact with one another can also present problems with how the signal distributes acros the two braids electrically."
Or....
"Most people who have actually listened to it would say no."
Or....
"Of it could be the simple coax geometry, most folks have found that all else being equal, a shielded twisted pair sounds superior."
As you can see, "sounds better" seem to be the key word here. There is nothing substantial electrically that one can put their finger on it. For example, I agreed with you that Teflon and PE are better insulation and dielectric because I found plenty of electrical information (such as their Constant ratings K) that confirmed they are better material. But for subject of bare copper stranded center wire vs solid, or tinned copper shield vs plain copper braid, all I see is theories and listening evaluations.
Also, I don't belive that cost of cables prohibit studios from buying the cables they want. Considering that only one piece of equipment in the studio can run into thousands, the price of cables will not be an issue, especially if quality is involved.
