It sounded pretty much as Charles Hansen said it would with all its loop feedback. It's got to go.Why do you assume that your poor results were exclusively due to feedback and absolutely nothing to do with the devices used and the circuit they were implemented in?

Of course the heart of the 47 Lab Gaincard is a $2.50 power opamp with gobs of global negative feedback. So clearly negative feedback is hardly a universally bad thing.
Anyway, I'm not saying you'll necessarily ever be happy with any implementation of a Sziklai pair. Just seems a bit premature to write something off entirely based on a singular experience.
