Re: Distortion spectra animation

I personally think a change like this could be audible... But harmonic distortion is merely a single parameter that can yield a sonic difference. IM distortion is another. The dielectric's effect on signal propagation yet another.

Except that the issue here (for me at least) has nothing to do with audibility or IM distortion or dielectric effects on signal propagation, etc. For me, the only issue is determining whether the distortion John's measuring is a product of his measurement system or the cable itself.

If it turns out to be his system, then we can all just pack our bags and go home. If it turns out to be in the cables, then we get to take the next step and try and determine the actual cause.

And as much as I'm sure John believes my only motive is to try and prove his measurements wrong, I'm actually rather hoping they turn out to be right. I would find that much more interesting than if it were just some equipment anomaly.

Who knows? In the end, he and I might even end up working together on the project. Wouldn't that just have everyone's jaws dropping. Hey, stranger things have been known to happen. :)
