It's about determining what the actual numbers are. Without knowing exactly the absolute values that are represented in John's plots, any attempt to duplicate his results are pointless as anything that doesn't give the same results as he's getting can simply be dismissed saying they're not measuring low enough as was the case with Arny's measurements.
John's plots complicate the issue because it's not just a plot of the signal with the fundamental nulled out where one could easily determine absolute values as is the case with Arny's plots. Some amount of voltage gain was applied prior to the result being sent to the sound card in his Mac. And without knowing how much gain was in fact applied, any sort of meaningful comparison to other measurements is hopeless. And it seems that's how John wants it to remain. Hopeless.
