Specify the load, then it's straightforward to design the circuit to drive it. For example, my preamp is designed to drive anything down to 10kohm and up to 500pF shunt. And it does, as was verified during the prototyping process. You can swap interconnects in and out all day and as long as they don't have stupid levels of capacitance or defective shielding, and DO have decent quality plugs, you won't hear a difference. Except possibly in your imagination, but that's beyond the realm of design.
