Well said Peter. I told jj that, years ago, on line. It is a matter of 'payoff' : Do you want to want to test for hearing subtle differences, or 'proving' that some subtle difference doesn't matter too much? For me, I have to ferret out subtle differences that sometimes even go contrary to my engineering background, if I want to make better than average audio products.
I found the articles in 'The Audio Amateur' written by Drs Rees and Shaffer on this subject are most valuable. I have access to these. Give me a call sometime, if you are interested.
