Thanks for all the fun and laughter you bring us.
The velvet tweak was from YBA, as I have said before, and I think it adds coloration so I abandoned it 10 years ago. You may still find velvet stuck onto the capacitors inside a YBA preamp.
Olive oil alters the resonant frequency of the wood cartridge(one of the most sensitive parts of your system) and is easily audible. You will understand this if you know how a violin is made and find out how they adjust the resonant frequency.
I would never disregard something I don't understand, we all have limited understandings, haven't we? If everything is already understood, a set of Sony or Aiwa with good specs should be able to solve all music reproduction problems.
Music reproduction is the combination of Art and Science, if there is no Art, there is no emotion.
By the way, paranasal sinuses mainly affect phonation, if smoking results in tinnitis and affects hearing, you better get an ENT surgeon to check out the fossa of Rosenmuller.
After the removal of this primary pathology, you will be able to differentiate an Aiwa from an Atmasphere.
No offence, but I always take music reproduction seriously.
