No, I wasn't planning on doing the test, as I don't have the right signal-generating equipment. I was hoping you were going to do the test!Imagine sampling a sine wave with two equally-wide samples that both symmetrically stradle the two zero-crossing points. Wouldn't both samples be zero? If the sine wave is biased so that it is always positive, both points will have the same value, which would be fine if you are trying to find the average value. I believe two samples only define a sine wave when you know it is a sine wave and they are the right two samples. Maybe I am being too simplistic, but I think the latter of these two is the main reason why SACDs can sound better than CDs.
