...I really need more time with it which I don't have as my X "friend" took it back home with him. He's a bad person. However, initial impressions were a tightened low end (reminds me of something my wife could use), a bit of an unveiling of the midrange and perhaps a little blossoming on the top end (something my wife fortunately doesn't need).Overall, I felt it helped the stock SCD777ES come closer to the CARY 306SACD I have had in my system but it fell a little short, however still not bad. I'm going to try to get a little more time with the Whest hopefully in the next week or two to give it the time it deserves as the initial audition was far too short.
The bottom line for me is if I wasn't going for the CARY I would seriously consider the Whest/Sony combination along with the mods for the 777ES. The one interesting thing which I must look into is how the Whest would synergize, or not, with the 306SACD. Once I get the 306SACD back I'll look into that.
