Ultrasonic noise can wreak havoc with some audio equipment. It's probably the reason why some people seem to dislike SA-CD.I sometimes wonder whether it's worthwhile manufacturing a line level low pass filter that you can insert whenever you think there may be an issue with ultrasonic noise downstream. Kind of like the equivalent of a ground loop cheater plug.
Of course, some care would need to be taken in the design to accomodate impedance issues, phase shifts, or any other issues that may degrade the audio.
Maybe this is basically what the DAP10 is? A high quality line level buffer with low pass filter?
