I think the dampers are a good suggestion. I hate to sound like a shill for Herbies Audio Lab products, but most of his products have worked quite amazingly well in my system. I'd highly recommend trying Herbies tube dampers as well as the Tenderfeet for your CD player. You may also consider the Sonic Stablilizers for the CD players also, though the Tenderfeet may be enough. I have found the newer Tenderfeet greatly reduce high frequency haze (for my own system, I prefer the older Tenderfeet). I just recently tried the Stabilizers on my CD player and have been amazed at the results (hope to write more on this another time). With an easy return policy and 90 days to decide, you only lose a couple of bucks for the return shipment; well worth it in my opinion.
