In the Mastersound, they 5687 are used as the driver. The 6900 has twice the transconductance and thus a much lower plate resistance. This makes it a lower impedance driver for the 845. My pet theory.I don't own the Mastersound but my friend is a dealer and sells them. You should try some simple mods like replacing some of the caps and resistors. Sounds even better.
