MU 6900s, Wondering if I Shoud Use These

In my excitement to get my hands on a set of Bendix 6900 tubes for my NAF 845 SE Integrated amp, I'm afraid that I made a less than wise purchase. First of all, I found these on ebay, and please don't ask how much. Let's just say I feel foolish about that, but I'll be okay with the price if these work out. I think the seller is known to members of this forum.

The tubes look pristine, completely unused, but I have no way to test them. They sound a bit thin in my amp, more so than the 5687s or 7119s I have used. I know that this tube may be brighter in character, but I'm not sure that's what I'm hearing. The distributor recommended the 6900 tube as an excellent alternative, so I don't have compatability concerns.

The thing that concerns me is that in digging through old posts, I find that these may have been Bendix rejects in the first place. The tubes do appear to have a defect in that the silver layer on top of the tube is very sparse. On one tube it covers only a small area around the exhaust tip. On the other, it covers only one half of the top of the tube. Based on this, or anyone's experience with the MU branded 6900s, is there reason for concern? Otherwise, I'd be willing to run them for a bit, to see if they open up. Either way, from now on I'll follow the prevailing wisdom in buying my tubes from reputable dealers. Thanks for any input.
