isn't it? Especially if you want to try any fancy stuff like silver windings and/or exotic core materials. No point in paying silly money for tantalum resistors and silver in oil caps when the iron sucks.So I vote for spending for good iron. If one feels they have extra cash to burn after that consider some more iron, like plate chokes, grid chokes, input transformers, more power supply/heater chokes, and for those with lots of money, interstage transformers (I'll take mu-metal and nickel please). Then and only then would I start spending for fancy audiophool parts like silver in oil teflon coupling caps at hundreds a pop (I doubt I'd buy them even if I won the lottery...okay I am curious so maybe I would:). Mills is about as pricey a resistor as I'll buy.

P.S. Never got around to trying to make my amps look nice....I figure I'd just end up drilling more holes in them anyway.
