In regards to your question about how the t45s handle the bass on Yes recordings I only have that one cd and to be perfectly honest I noticed neither a lack of nor a preponderance of bass on that particular cd, I mostly noticed the imaging. As I am still a novice to this hobby I think that I'm in the process of learning that high fidelity in general doesn't necessarily mask a bad recording but instead brings out the best in a good recording. A good example of this was a Santana dvd I watched recently (Live in Mexico). They used a lot of Latin percussion (congas, timbales, etc.) in addition to the drums. At any rate the t45s rose to the occassion and handled the percussion section extremely well I thought. As a matter of fact I thought that that dvd elevated my whole system a notch or two. I think I'm beginning to realize how much of a difference the recording makes when assessing the strengths or weaknesses of your system as I may have misjudged my speakers on some poorer recordings.
As a side note I discovered that my friend owns the dvd version of the Cream concert that you mentioned. I plan on watching (and listening) to it this weekend and I'll let you know how that turns out.
