Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Too many variable for a straight answer.

["Although I love the imaging capabilities of my t45's I feel like they lack a little bit in bass."]

It's difficult to tell if you have a handle on your needs. Taken literally, you have little reason to consider change.

["Somebody at the audio shop told me that typically speakers that offer greater bass performance often lack imaging capabilities. Is this true or is it possible to have the best of both worlds in a single pair of speakers?"]

Generally, smaller speakers image better. Subwoofers usually will have better definition and impact. Like other frequencies, bass has appreciable qualities beyond depth. Do yourself a favor and forget about, "the best of both worlds" in one speaker. If there were such an animal in your price range, you'd know.
