Sgt. Peppers is a fun and musically engaging record. Smile on the other hand is a boring cutesy artsy fartsy record. The very fact that the record got produced, marketed and distributed by a major label just goes to show the advantages Brian Wilson has been given throughout his lifetime. The scorn of Brian Wilson fans, the Beach Boys, again come through to assure Brian Wilsons success. This guys been handed his life on a silver platter and what did he chose to do with it - hang around his house stuffing drugs and hamburgers in his face while taking 30 years to produce a silly pop album. What an embarrasment.
