... art and pop/rock music don't usually work well together. Yoko Ono is a very good artist but her experiments with John are neither her nor his best work. Why is this? I suggest that the reason the Doors have continued is because they strive for the artistic and poetic and that is always seductive. Those who question the importance of the Doors are knowingly or unknowingly responding to the impossibility of the pop/rock world to express itself as real art.
