Good condensers are going to be pricey. Just bite the bullet and get a good pair of Neumann KM 83 or 84s or some new Sennheisers MC20s. Also look at the Audio Technica AT4060 tube condensers. These can be picked up reasonably sometime. If you're strapped and no way around it look for a good used pair of Electro Voice RE55 omnis. You'll get a lower noise floor with dynamics and these really sing and have very low bass even down to the pipe organ area. Yes, they are omnis! The EV RE15 are also excellent. But once you've used a good condenser, it's gona be hard to go back to any dynamic. But whatever you buy get two identical mics and record in stereo. Humans hear with two ears! Ray Hughes
