HmmmThe clicking is definitely mechanical, not electronic, and "real" cassettes do not make the sound. I've already returned it, so I can't take it apart, but it definitely sounded like its parts were loose when you shook it, so I'm going to look for one that sounds solid, before I buy. I thought about taking it apart, but I didn't want to waste my ten bucks if I messed it up. I didn't try that adapter in another deck, that is a good suggestion. Oh well...
