Well I use American Recorder s-721h (catchy name) head cleaner. It is safe for rubber parts as well as heads etc. A couple of years ago I tried a different brand and it actually screwed up a tape because it was eating the coating - since then I stick with this stuff. If I could find the book that came with my demag it says how often to demag but I think it is every 90 hours or something like that. I clean the heads between almost every play and always before I record - unless I get lazy. I'm actually thinking about gettiing a new demag unit from US recording media - the one they have lookes pretty robust. Welcome to the crazy world of reel to reel tape.Wes
